Reconcile Ceramic Liner Quotations After the Technical Scope Changes

A ceramic-liner project can change between the first quotation and the accepted design. Additional backing, a revised transition or a different installation boundary can make the original prices incomparable. Reconcile the technical scope before making the commercial decision. The useful question is not merely which total is lower, but whether each offer covers the current construction and the same required work.

Freeze a comparison version of the requirements

Identify the drawing revision, operating brief and supply boundary against which offers will be compared. List approved changes since the initial inquiry. A revised design should not remain attached to an old quotation by assumption. Ask each offer to confirm its basis so that the buyer can distinguish a current price from a preliminary amount covering another construction.

For a hypothetical chute project, the first request may concern loose tiles while the later review calls for backed panels and a defined end transition. A quote still based on loose pieces omits an important scope change. Record that difference explicitly rather than treating it as a supplier price advantage or an unexplained increase in cost.

Trace the work that moved between parties

Show who supplies backing, fixings, consumables, substrate preparation and installation in the current scope. Identify inspection and documentation requirements as well. A scope revision can transfer work to the plant even when the purchased item looks similar. The comparison should capture that transfer rather than leaving it hidden in a general exclusion such as site work by others.

Review unresolved substrate or access conditions that affect installation. An offer based on a sound shell should retain that assumption until removal confirms the actual condition. Separate required repairs from the wear-lining supply. Ceramic protection does not establish structural adequacy, and a commercial quotation cannot close an equipment-integrity question that still needs the owner's assessment.

Compare alternatives without mixing technical baselines

If a supplier proposes a different construction, record it as an alternative with its own drawing and acceptance questions. Confirm finished passage, support and retention. A cheaper option that changes an unapproved dimension is not yet equivalent to the requested assembly. Likewise, a higher price may include work that another offer excludes. Align those facts before interpreting the commercial difference.

Keep any forecast operating benefits separate from the quote reconciliation. Future maintenance frequency remains uncertain unless relevant evidence supports it. A scope-adjusted purchase price is a known commercial item; an expected service-life benefit is another kind of information. Do not use an unsupported saving to obscure missing installation or qualification work in the accepted order.

Close the comparison with a traceable order scope

Record current inclusions, exclusions, accepted alternatives and outstanding assumptions for the selected offer. Link them to the controlled technical documents. The installer and receiving team should know what was actually ordered and what remains their responsibility. Preserve changes rather than replacing the file with an apparently final total that gives no explanation of its technical basis.

Provide Sanxin with the revised drawing and a concise change list when requesting an updated proposal. Ask for explicit confirmation of the current supply and evidence boundary. Use the accepted version for delivery and installation checks. Later cost review can then distinguish the purchased scope, actual site work and unverified future assumptions without reconstructing the project from inconsistent early quotations.

Can original quotation totals be compared after the lining design changes?

Only after confirming which current requirements each total covers. Reconcile drawing revision, supply boundary, installation work and acceptance documents. Keep alternatives and assumptions explicit so a scope difference is not mistaken for a direct price difference.
