Ceramic Composite Liners in Coal Washing: Qualify Wet Exposure and Wear Together

Coal washing equipment can expose a liner to moving solids and a liquid environment. A ceramic composite proposal therefore needs both a loading description and compatibility information for the full construction. For a Sanxin inquiry, identify the exact wet contact and cleaning cycle. An abrasion claim for the ceramic face does not establish the condition of rubber, joints or backing exposed in the assembly.

Describe the wet material at the component

Identify the solids and liquid contacting the proposed surface, including relevant additives and operating temperature. Record variation in solids size and loading during the campaign. A broad description such as wash water may omit information needed to evaluate joining materials or exposed support.

Map the wear path and any deposits or accumulations. Distinguish continuous sliding contact from landing impact and unusual feed events. Where large pieces reach the lining, assess impact separately. High ceramic hardness should not be used as proof that a composite panel is qualified for those strikes.

Trace the paths by which liquid reaches interfaces

Show ceramic, rubber, backing, seals and attachment in section. Identify intended contact surfaces and any gap or termination where liquid can reach another material. The review should also consider what becomes exposed after local wear or damage.

Ask for evidence associated with the selected materials and joining construction. A ceramic-only compatibility statement cannot qualify every interface. If a layer is intended to remain isolated, define how that assumption is checked and what observation would require further examination.

Include shutdown and cleaning conditions

Describe flushing, cleaning chemicals and the handling procedure used during maintenance. These exposures can differ from normal production. Review them against the actual rubber and joining system instead of assigning the ceramic material's limits to the panel.

Inspect the supporting structure before replacement. Distortion, deterioration or previous repairs need the appropriate review and should not be hidden by new lining. Confirm that the accepted construction can be installed and later removed through the available access without unapproved changes to the equipment.

Use a hypothetical hidden-exposure question

Suppose a hypothetical coal washing panel is reviewed for wet solids contact but its mounting detail allows cleaning liquid to reach a normally sheltered backing edge. The proposal needs evidence for that exposure as well as the ceramic face. The team should resolve it before treating the complete panel as compatible with the cleaning cycle.

This is an interface-review example, not a field failure or supplier result. A trial could document the accepted edge detail and revisit it during planned inspection. Record ceramic surface loss, rubber condition, layer separation and mounting movement separately, with the actual operating and cleaning history.

Prepare a wet-duty Sanxin inquiry

Send the equipment section, material and liquid description, failure photographs and cleaning sequence. Identify fixed openings, support requirements and replacement access. Ask the offered construction to identify relevant material identities, compatibility evidence and unresolved conditions. Keep exposure changes linked to panel identity so later inspection does not compare different chemical conditions without acknowledging the difference.

At installation, preserve baseline photographs and item traceability. Coordinate later inspection with the plant's procedures and state inaccessible regions. A meaningful evaluation can answer whether the proposed assembly remains acceptable in the defined coal washing duty without converting general ceramic wear resistance into an unsupported claim of universal wet-process suitability.

Can a dry-service composite liner reference qualify coal washing equipment?

It may inform the inquiry, but wet contact and cleaning introduce additional compatibility and interface questions. Evaluate the complete construction under the stated solids, liquid and operating conditions.
