Alumina Tiles in Coal Handling: Separate Transfer Impact from Surface Wear

Coal handling equipment can lose material through several mechanisms within a single transfer point. A chute wall may show smooth abrasion beside a landing area with dents, fractured liners or loose fasteners. A useful Sanxin inquiry separates those locations. Treating the entire chute as one wear problem can hide the feature that controls the repair decision.

Build a loading map from the installed equipment

Mark the incoming trajectory, landing region and established sliding path on a drawing. Include the direction of belt travel and any changes in chute geometry. Compare marks left by routine feed with damage following blockages or unusual lumps. A photograph taken after cleaning needs its orientation recorded, because a wear patch without its position explains little about particle loading.

Ask operators how moisture changes the flow. Material buildup can redirect the stream or narrow the passage, exposing a previously sheltered wall. Record any access restrictions that prevent regular cleaning. Those observations may indicate that flow geometry or operating practice needs review alongside a lining proposal.

Decide where a ceramic face can be useful

Alumina tiles are a candidate for surfaces where abrasive contact is the central concern. Their hardness does not establish resistance to large lump impact. At the landing zone, assess impact separately and examine whether the supporting arrangement can limit unfavorable loading on the ceramic. Do not extend a tile choice from a quiet sliding surface into a heavily struck region solely for purchasing consistency.

The boundaries between different lining constructions need drawings. A raised edge or a gap at the transition can become a new wear initiation point. Review the finished flow surface, including how adjoining panels meet after installation, rather than comparing loose tile samples alone.

Inspect the support and attachment proposal

Check the steel behind the proposed lining for distortion, thinning and previous repairs. A lining cannot be assessed independently of the surface that supports it. Define whether the support will be repaired, replaced or accepted before attachment begins. The inspection should also identify inaccessible corners where preparation quality may be difficult to confirm.

For an adhesive arrangement, request preparation, cure and environmental requirements for the actual product. For mechanical retention, identify how loads reach the backing and how fasteners will be inspected. Process temperature, vibration and exposure during cleaning belong in this review. Ceramic material information alone does not qualify the assembly.

Use a hypothetical trial to test the boundary

Consider a hypothetical coal transfer with severe damage under the incoming stream and gradual wear farther down the chute. The plant could evaluate an alumina tile arrangement only on the established sliding region while investigating the landing zone separately. This is an example of trial design, not evidence of a completed installation or a service-life result.

Before startup, record both the ceramic region and its interface with the existing liner. At subsequent safe inspections, look for edge chipping, movement, local accumulation and changes in the wear path. Compare operation under similar feed conditions. If the stream shifts, revise the loading map before attributing the outcome to the tile material.

Prepare an inquiry that supports a repair decision

Send Sanxin the marked layout, wear photographs, coal size description, moisture range and known upset history. Identify the shutdown access and the permitted changes to chute geometry. Ask what drawing, attachment procedure and acceptance evidence would be needed for the proposed region. A defined repair boundary makes a quotation more useful and gives maintenance staff a clear area to inspect.

Can one tile specification cover every surface in a coal chute?

Only after the loading and support conditions have been reviewed. Sliding abrasion, direct lump impact and buildup can occur in different regions. Specify those regions separately and qualify the transitions as part of the installed arrangement.
