FuturaSun, a leading player in the photovoltaic industry, has reached a significant milestone in its vertical integration of the solar supply chain. The company recently joined the esteemed ranks of the world's top photovoltaic cell manufacturers following a signing ceremony held on May 10th in Huai'an.

This groundbreaking project involves the construction of a massive gigafactory spanning an impressive 266,000 square meters. With an initial investment of 150 million euros, the construction will take place in two phases. Once completed and operational within a span of three years, the plant will have an impressive annual production capacity of 10 GW of cutting-edge N-type TOPCon solar cells.

The production process, set to commence in spring 2024, will be highly automated. These solar cells will serve as an integral component of FuturaSun's modules, catering to the company's Italian and Chinese gigafactories. Through vertical integration, FuturaSun aims to ensure superior quality, greater supply autonomy, and improved readiness to embrace future technological advancements.

"This project marks an unprecedented milestone for our Italian Group as we venture into an arena predominantly dominated by major Chinese players. It showcases our ability to push boundaries and transform seemingly impossible dreams into reality. Today, FuturaSun further strengthens its supply chain, guaranteeing the availability of the primary module component—the solar cell—not only for our Chinese facilities but also, and most importantly, for our European counterparts. In just a few years, we have emerged as a prominent leader in the photovoltaic industry, especially in the context of Europe-China relations," remarks Alessandro Barin, CEO and co-founder of FuturaSun.

The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of distinguished officials from both China and Italy. Zhu Haibo, Secretary of the Qingjiangpu District Party Committee, expressed gratitude for the attention and support shown to the region. Alessandra Palumbo, Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai, along with Ermanno Vitali, a board member of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China, commended FuturaSun for its unwavering commitment to research, development, and environmental sustainability from its inception. Xu Ning, Co-founder and COO of FuturaSun, highlighted the excellent collaboration between FuturaSun and the Qingjiangpu District, emphasizing the multitude of mutual benefits it will bring.

This ambitious project serves as another remarkable achievement for the dynamic Italian company, firmly establishing its position among the giants of the photovoltaic industry.

In 2020, FuturaSun took a significant step towards the production of its photovoltaic modules with the establishment of its first gigafactory in Taizhou. Currently, the company is also developing a second gigafactory and the HQ Asia in Suzhou. Both facilities are strategically located within Jiangsu Province, home to the world's largest and most vibrant photovoltaic district.
