A project may propose ceramic lining inside a retained pipe shell rather than supply a completely new component. The retained shell introduces its own condition and geometry questions. Before requesting a Sanxin offer, identify who will assess it and what accepted information the lining design will use. Ceramic protection should not be counted as a repair or qualification of the pressure-containing or supporting assembly by assumption.

Record the shell identity, relevant drawing and available operating and repair history. Distinguish documented condition from information concealed beneath old protection. The equipment owner should determine required inspection and any repairs through its integrity process. A usable exterior photograph does not establish every internal surface or load-bearing feature.
Clarify whether the proposal changes the shell, connections or supports. Any modification needs the appropriate design approval. The ceramic supplier's lining scope should reference accepted geometry rather than silently assume that structural or pressure questions have been resolved. Keep open items explicit in quotation and schedule planning.
Measure relevant features through an approved process and record their basis. Old wear, deposits, distortion or repairs can make the shell differ from its original drawing. Identify finished bore requirements and the space available for the proposed lining. The offered ceramic thickness must be reviewed with usable passage and connection terminations.
Ask how the lining is supported and retained against the accepted substrate. Uneven support or an unsuitable interface remains a construction question regardless of material hardness. Review the actual temperature, chemistry and cleaning conditions for joints, backing and attachment as well as ceramic. Do not assign isolated material limits to the complete retained-shell assembly.
Suppose a hypothetical plant requests a lining quotation before removing the previous protection. The parties identify a hold point for shell inspection and dimensional confirmation before final fabrication approval. The initial quote records that uncertainty instead of treating the concealed shell as verified sound. This is scope-control logic, not a Sanxin shell assessment or an established repair route.
If the accepted shell differs from the preliminary assumptions, revise the drawing and scope through the responsible process. Preserve the reason and approval for changes. Do not force ceramic pieces into a geometry that no longer matches the design. The receiving and installation checks should use the final accepted revision.
Send the shell drawing, condition evidence available to the owner, measured features and proposed operating duty. Identify which inspection remains outstanding and who accepts the substrate. Ask the offered construction to define ceramic layout, support, retention and terminations. Clarify specialized repairs or qualification rather than presuming they accompany lining supply. Keep the accepted inspection basis and final drawing revision with the component identifier.
Retain shell acceptance and lining installation records as separate, connected evidence. Document the installed baseline and planned inspection coverage. Later wear findings should not be interpreted as a complete shell-integrity assessment. A useful retained-shell project establishes both what the ceramic is intended to protect and which equipment responsibilities remain with the approved design and owner review throughout renewal.
No automatic acceptance follows. The owner must assess shell condition, geometry, repairs and applicable integrity requirements. Review the ceramic as a supported lining within that accepted assembly, with its own installation and application evidence.
